Processing & Trim Technician

Summary

This entry-level position of Cultivation Technician offers an opportunity to learn and grow with A Walk in the Pines from the ground up, and to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time. The Processing Technician will assist with all Post-Harvest responsibilities, up to the point in which the material is handled for further processing at A Walk in the Pines cultivation facility. Excellent work environment with flexible work schedules.  Cultivation site is in Geneva, NY, and you must have your own means of transportation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with multiple types of harvests (“Fresh Frozen” and Standard harvest)

  • Assists in trimming and shucking dried Cannabis flower

  • Inspects flower for defects using a variety of tools and processes

  • Responsible for the removal of plants from the dry rooms based on the schedule of the drying process

  • Assisting in the recording of plant material and waste weights through paper records, and seed-to-sale tracking processes

  • Perform routine inventory audits of material within the Processing Department

  • Verify quality control standards are being met throughout the process

  • Ensure production goals established by the Master Grower are being met

  • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to defoliation, and post-harvest cleaning

  • Uphold all standards and procedures pertaining to facility cleanliness, such as cleaning of supplies, workspaces, etc.

  • Assist with other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Master Grower & COO

Education & Experience

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year of experience in horticulture, botany, or related field preferred

  • Knowledge of biology and chemistry related to plant growth and nutrition

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices 

  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Basic knowledge with inventory systems and office equipment

Cultivation environment that requires extended time standing, walking, bending and reaching. Ability to carry up to 50lbs for up to a distance of 100ft may be required. Occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects. Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
