Cultivation Manager
Summary
The Cultivation Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of cannabis crop cultivation at the cultivation and processing facility for A Walk in the Pines. The successful candidate will possess a passion for horticulture, excellent leadership, interpersonal and business skills, demonstrating an ability to continually learn and drive for continuous improvement.  Cultivation site is in Geneva, NY, and you must have your own means of transportation.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Effectively lead, manage and coordinate all cultivation processes and the cultivation team to ensure growing and preparing the highest quality, premium cannabis for distribution and sale

Providing technical guidance and training to consistently execute and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive ongoing operational excellence

Manage staff scheduling, the bi-weekly payroll and PTO

Performs annual performance reviews for every team member on the Cultivation team

Monitors a variety of system maintenance programs such as HVAC interfaces, gas exchange monitors, lighting controllers and irrigation timers, ensuring efficient and effective environmental performance

Promptly identifies and addresses any issues with lighting, gas exchange, hydrology or irrigation and temperature and humidity; partnering with Facilities / Maintenance

Partners with the Facilities / Maintenance team to keep all systems in good working order and schedules repairs in a timely fashion

Manages supply levels and department requisitions and ensures the timely availability of all relevant horticultural supplies

Propagation and the maintenance of healthy and available mother plants

Crop care and routine manicuring (e.g., pruning, trellis netting)

Plant nutrition and irrigation

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program

Develops and executes a cultivation strategy and crop management protocols to deliver premium cultivation to help achieve the company’s financial performance objectives (monthly, quarterly, annually)

Issues a weekly summary report of progress vs KPIs to the management team

Develops and issues a monthly report evaluating inventory and supplies (to avoid any operational disruption)

Participates in the hiring, training and evaluation of all cultivation team members; partnering with Human Resources

Coordinates with other managers and their teams, as necessary
Education & Experience
-
Must be 21 years of age or older
-
High School Diploma or equivalent, College Degree preferred
-
Work history showing progressive responsibility and willingness to accept new challenges and opportunities -- Required
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in horticulture, botany, or related field - Required
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role - Required

Strong experience w/the principles and practices pertaining to indoor cultivation of marijuana. Successful track record In the cannabis industry

Knowledge of various strains and their effects (biology and chemistry of marijuana)

Biology and chemistry related to plant growth and nutrition. Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.

Proficient in the principles of business management

Knowledge of basic computer & office equipment operations (Google Suite; Sheets, Docs, Drive. Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Office Equipment; Copiers, Printers, Telephone Systems)

Advanced and extensive math required for inventory, projections, and measurements

Excellent time-management skills; Ability to effectively plan and prioritize

Cultivation environment that requires extended time standing, walking, bending and reaching. Ability to carry up to 50lbs for up to a distance of 100ft may be required. Occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects. Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
